Duirwaigh Studios is home to the creative talents of husband-and-wife team Angi Sullins and Silas Toball. They, along with their menagerie of artist, writer and film-making friends, produce products and services that inspire creative consciousness. From tangible treasures like books, films, and gifts, to the lively inspirations of workshops, and concerts, Duirwaigh specializes in the three E's: enchantment, enlightenment, entertainment.
We believe each product and experience should transport its audience through the portal of wonder and into the limitless realm of soul, where impossible things happen every day. With creative wild abandon and imaginative play, with a belief in the infinite possibilities of the human psyche, with feet on the ground and heads in the stars, we endeavor to knock at the door of the human heart, re-minding ourselves and each other that once upon a time is really here and now.
Our History
Duirwaigh began as an online gallery in 1999 and in the early years of the new millennium grew to be the best place on the web to find original mythopoetic art. In 2001 Duirwaigh Publishing was opened, producing fine art prints and greeting cards for the growing fan-base of myth and fantasy. By 2003 Duirwaigh had blossomed into a full service agency, selling, publishing and licensing original art for a select group of talented artists. For ten years Duirwaigh has sought to bring the best of enchantment to the web. To that end, Angi and Silas (Duirwaigh partners) created original films and music to inspire their online visitors. A Knock at the Door was one of those films. Originally released in 2004, it circled the globe several times over, watched by over four million viewers. Two book editions followed, as well as other film and music projects. In 2008, Angi and Silas decided to turn their attention to creating art full time. Silas now devotes his efforts to symphonic musical composition and original art and design, while Angi is sharing her muse-like talents with the world through writing and performing original inspirational material.

Our Cast of Characters
Angi
She's been called The Muse, and if you’ve ever read her books or watched her perform on stage, you’ll know why. Angi Sullins is the founder and creative fire behind Duirwaigh Studios. After almost a decade of helping visionary artists find their niche in the marketplace, Angi now devotes her time to writing and performing. She is the author of A Knock at the Door, the little film that continues to make a big splash on the internet, watched by over four million fans. Her first memoir Duirwaighs and Dreamfields: A True Fairy Tale chronicles one woman's transformational journey as she carries an impossible dream into reality, despite paralysis, financial ruin and emotional tragedy. Fans have described her as a curious mix of Dr. King and Dr. Seuss, delivering deeply soul-stirring messages with humorous, whimsical wit. Her writings from Message from the Muse--an online portal of inspiration--are the basis for the audio book Flaming Muse.
Angi likes laughter, cupcakes, Auntie Mame and Mary Poppins, orchids, chai, her husband Silas, disco-hip hop-big band-showtunes-rock-celtic-folk-classical music, fairy tales, used bookstores, her best friends Mernie, Tink and Izzy, Wonderland, consciousness, broadway musicals, painted toenails, The Fall, memoir writers, inspiration, limoncello, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Xanadu, storyteling, white rabbits, spiritual books, big hats, roller skates, Baz Luhrman-Julie Taymore-Jean Pierre Jeunet- films, barefoot nature, gypsy skirts, sea lions, Taos and buttons. Not necessarily in that order.
She believes grace outclasses style, curiosity outshines judgement, that love and limoncello conquer all. She is sensibly nonsensical, practically impractical and truly scrumptious.
Silas
He's a Renaissance Man, devoted to creating original symphonic compositions, film scores, watercolor paintings, graphic design, and fairy tales. Silas creates all of the incredible graphics you see on our website, as well as the art on our books, greeting cards, and calendars. We don't see him very often. He stays cloistered in his Mac laboratory, brewing strange inspirational elixirs and concocting graphical picture-potions that he swears DO NOT contain eye of newt.
As a native of the Black Forest in Germany, Silas speaks with an amazing accent. He's graphically gifted, web-wise, looks amazing in a pair of antlers, and doesn't distract us with words that sound like English. No. Really. What we like about him is his penchant for faerytaling, myth-making and dream building. He's earth-centered and sky-minded, but puts his lederhosen on one leg at a time, just like the rest of us.
Silas likes Angi, his sidekicks Tink and Izzy, the music of Gustav Mahler, romance in art, literature, music and in action, cafe latte, composing symphonic music, big hats and bigger hips on women, Death and Transfiguration, art nouveau, alchemy, goulash soup, European outdoor cafes, old books, walks in nature, prog rock, Little Big, Böcklin's Isle of the Dead, French bread, German pretzels and Czech beer. Definitely in that order.
Mernie
Mernie handles our shop sales and customer service. She's also been known to juggle the numbers. Not that she likes juggling, or numbers. If she's going to juggle, she'd rather juggle peanut butter and chocolate, naptime and lunchtime, Johnny Depp and Denzel Washington. But she's not complaining. Much. She's a team player, that feisty redhead!
If you ring Duirwaigh, it's probably Mernie's singsong voice you'll hear on the other end of the phone. If any of the Duirwaigh crew fails to meet a deadline, return a phone call or make a meeting, it's Mernie who will be writing the note to teacher. As a lifelong girlscout, Mernie has a knack for making things happen, so if you really want answers, a dewey button or a box of thin mint cookies, start with Mernie. If she doesn't know the answers, she fakes it well and will lull you into a blissful, false sense of security. Either way, it's a Win/Win.
In the Duirwaigh School of Life, Mernie is your hall pass.
Kim
Kim followed us home one day when we'd been on a walkabout through wonderland. We decided to keep her. If you've called your order into the Duirwaigh office, and someone with a summer-filled accent answered your ring, that was Kim. She does just about everything for Duirwaigh, because Mernie, Angi and Silas are too busy goofing off. We call her the Box Whisperer. It's a special talent and we can't go into all that's involved because of its highly classified nature. But let's just say if your packages arrived safely to their destination, it's not because of UPS. The Box Whisperer worked her magic into the ears of your package before it left our headquarters.
Aimee
Aimee is a jack-of-all-trades, cupcake-of-all-flavors type of gal who we found lounging under a bodhi tree one fine day (not to be confused with a van down by the river!!). Nevermind the fact that she had no clue what a bodhi tree was, or why a parade of scrumptiousness had found it's way to her door. Aimee seems to attract the gravy-train of goodness in a nonchalant, "Why Not?" kind of way that makes us simultaneously want to hug her and smack her for being so dang, well, 'Aimee-able'!! Of course, the occasional gopher-faced stresspuke happens, but even then it's comic relief. Win-win, no?
In the big scheme of things, Aimee's the Cosmic Sprinkle Shaker, making sure there's a little of her inspiration in everything. If she's not making art of her own then she's collaborating on a project, writing a new blurb, romping through the forums, or in the kitchen pretending she has her own cooking show. She likes to hang out behind that big red velvet curtain avoiding the spotlight, but soaking up the grandness of the show all the same.... and making sure the confetti machine is in full working order!
